Harris County Municipal Utility District 249 now has five Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies to keep District residents safe. The HCMUD 249 Board of Directors voted to hire two additional deputies for the District in March.
“The addition of two new deputies will provide the district with 24 hour coverage five days a week and will help maintain the district’s low crime rate,” HCMUD 249 Director Norman Adamek said.
The District has partnered with the HCSO since 2002 to have deputies regularly patrol in the district. The Board was able to increase from three to five contract deputies in March after careful budgeting.
“We are not responding to a specific crime issue,” Adamek said. “Visibility is a critical part of law enforcement and this community is acting in a proactive manner.”
In addition to their prevention function, the deputies are in the district to ensure a fast response to 911 calls. The District’s Board and its dedicated HCSO deputies understand that a fast response in an emergency may significantly improve the outcome of the situation.
The HCMUD 249 Board of Directors is grateful to the district’s HCSO deputies and encourages residents to introduce themselves to the officers and get to know them.
