What’s New: Trees!

Thanks to the combined efforts by the HCMUD 249 Board of Directors, the District’s engineer and the District’s landscape architect, and in cooperation with Trees for Houston, approximately 90 trees were planted last month in the community.

Harris County MUD 249 routinely asks new developers to attempt to save as many trees as possible when preparing for a building project. The community was saddened when the construction contractor for the new Lone Star College facility inadvertently over-cleared the land during the preparation phase of the project a little over a year ago. In response, Directors and consultants for the District met with the developer to discuss a plan to restore the much-loved trees to the area at the intersection of Lexington and Cypresswood.

Through excellent collaboration efforts by all involved, and the generous assistance of Trees for Houston, the District was delighted to restore the natural woodland beauty to the vicinity. These trees will be enjoyed by District residents for years to come. The District would like to thank Trees for Houston for their ongoing partnership in keeping HCMUD 249 forested and green!
